From comics’ origins to your own comic book: explore genres, master panel storytelling, and bring your story to life on the page!

In this workshop, we’ll explore the world of comics. We’ll begin with their origins and most popular authors, move through some of the main genres, and finish with the key concepts for making your own comic book, using the medium’s techniques in service of your story.

What to expect

An introduction to the world of comics, from the basics that set them apart from other art forms to the different shapes they can take, and how to decide whether comics are the best choice for your story.

What to bring

A paper notebook for taking notes (optional) and your favorite art supplies.

Tickets

Your ticket includes hands-on guidance during the 2-hour workshop, all the materials you need, and one drink from the bar on the day of the event!

About your host

Lua Pahim is a comic book artist, writer, and teacher. She has been writing since the age of 13, studied comics, graduated from film school, and is now starting a master’s in creative writing. After 14 years on this path, she’s ready to share what she’s learned about storytelling, sequential art, and drawing.
