From Game of Thrones to Palestine

Liam Cunningham in Conversation with Dima Abu Sbeitan

You know him as Davos Seaworth from Game of Thrones. You may have seen him in Palestine 36. Beyond the screen, Irish actor Liam Cunningham has spent decades speaking out in solidarity with Palestine.

Join us at Casa Palestina for a conversation about Palestine, Hollywood, colonialism and the power of storytelling.

How does Hollywood shape the way the world sees Palestinians, Arabs and Muslims? Why are they so often portrayed through stereotypes of terrorism and violence? Who controls the stories that reach millions, and how do these narratives shape public opinion and political power?

Drawing on Cunningham’s acting career, his work in Palestine 36 and his solidarity with Palestine, we will explore the relationship between cinema and colonialism, the responsibility of artists to challenge dominant narratives, and the struggle of Palestinians to tell their own stories.

Who gets to tell the story? Who gets believed? And who benefits from the way the world sees Palestine?

The conversation will be followed by an audience Q&A.
